How to use affirmations? Like many other things, there are certain ground rules which should be followed to ensure that your self affirmations are actually effective. Increase your chances of having effective affirmations by knowing how to use affirmations. Below are some guidelines to practicing affirmations effectively.
STATED IN THE PRESENT When doing affirmations, we should state it in the present tense. To our brains tomorrow never comes, there is only the present. If you affirm for something to happen ‘someday’, you are just implying a vague time in the future. That is why it is so important to use the present tense.
SHORT AND SPECIFIC It is a good idea to keep your affirmations short and to the point. This way it is easier to say, the power of the affirmation is concentrated and the sub-conscious mind picks up short sentences much easier than long wordy sentences.
REPETITION Make sure that you do sufficient repetitions of the affirmation. The more you repeat an affirmation, the stronger the impact on the subconscious mind and the stronger the neurological imprint on the brain.
EMOTIONS It is very important to do affirmations with emotions. When you show emotions it means that you really want it, that you care and most importantly that you believe in affirmation. Don’t do affirmations in a weak and inspired manner. Your subconscious mind will notice pick that up. It will know that you’re not serious about affirmations and that since you don’t believe it, your subconscious won’t make it happen.
POSITIVE Affirmations should be stated in the positive. That means do affirmations for what you want and not what you do not want. Instead of affirming ‘My business will not fail’ , use a positive statement such as ‘My business is succeeding’. Avoid negative statement as much as you can.
PERSISTENCE Persistence is a very important quality to have when doing affirmations. Things cannot happen overnight. Affirmations need some time before it shows effect and materialize. That is why it is so important to be persistent and consistent even though we do not see any effect from the affirmation. The only way we can reap the rewards of practicing affirmations is by being diligent and keeping the belief.
VISUALIZATION Visualizing as you are practicing affirmations. In your mind see yourself as already having obtained your goal. This can increase the impact of the affirmation because having visual, auditory and kinesthetic elements in the affirmation multiplies the energy and influence of the affirmation.
