If you are a television watcher, you might have noticed a resurgence of information that is flooding the airwaves for women. This information is of sexual health and really determines things for the rest of the lives of many women that have never even heard of this disease in question. The commercials are seeking to educate crowds in regards to HPV Virus. The HPV Virus is just an acronym for human papilloma virus. This virus is not something that is easily rid of and there are a ton of strains to contend with, each with their own sort of functions and attacks, creating a havoc that is not usually seen with a lot of other diseases that effect sexual health of women.

Some types of the Hpv virus in women are found in the lining of the mouth and throat and within the cells of the cervix that can cause some changes, these are known to be high risk HPVs. These changes in cells are also called \’dysplasia\’ and have an increased risk of becoming cancerous. Other types of HPV can cause verrucas and warts. These types of HPV are sometimes called the \’wart virus\’ or \’genital wart virus\’ and are commonly found on the hands and feet, in the genital area and around the anus. But they can be on any part of the body. They are types of HPV virus that don\’t usually cause cell changes and may not develop into cancer. They are called low risk HPVs.

Men also encounter medical problems relating to the HPV virus (genital warts and cancers) but far less often than women. In many cases the clinical signs are not easy to recognize in men and thus can go unnoticed. Women\’s magazines and public health information is heavily weighted towards educating women about HPV as they are statistically more likely to be the at-risk individual in a relationship where HPV is present. This makes HPV appear to be a women\’s health issue in the majority of relationships when it is so clearly a mutual health concern which should be addressed in a responsible manner by both partners.

Some types of high risk HPV develop cervical cancer. They are called high risk types or strains. Almost all women with cervical cancer have at least one of these types of HPV virus in the cells of their cervix. Keep in mind that most women with high risk HPV don\’t develop cervical cancer. Many studies stated that these factors affect whether you develop a cancer, such as smoking or how well your immune system is working. Women who smoke and have a high risk type of HPV infection are more prone to have cervical cancer.

This article is intended to raise awareness about the concerns relating to HPV. You should consult with your primary care provider regarding any specifics about the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of HPV.
