Sometimes the urge comes on a girl to get out there and get in shape. But when that happens, the reasons women put themselves through the work of working out are always different from why men do it. But if your motivations for working out are combined with a well designed work out program, you will stick with the program long enough to see results. And when you go into a program knowing exactly what you want, you will know when it’s working and when it isn’t and make the proper adjustments rather than just give up.
Most of the time work outs that are built for the male body and preferences are dominated by weight training and getting “pumped up”. That is because the male body responds positively to such training and the results guys see from such works out are good for the much talked about male ego.
Women’s exercise programs are geared to different motivations that we have when going to work out or to the gym. One of the primary motivations very often is the desire to lose weight. So to accomplish this goal, there might be some emphasis on weight room workouts, primarily to focus on the stomach muscles and on stretching.
The need to include cardio workouts in your total program cannot be overlooked. But there is a good variety of cardio sports for you to consider including tennis, running and even swimming. To create a program without a balance of weight training and cardio is both ineffective and unhealthy.
Any weight loss program that is going to work combines all of the factors of good diet control, cardio exercises, thorough stretching and some weight exercises so that you build muscle as the fat melts away. But even if your program is perfectly tuned to your goals and your body type, that is not enough to make you a success in your exercise program. To do that you have to find the motivation to stick with it over a period of weeks and months so we have to make sure exercise is fun, or at least something to look forward to if we ever expect to succeed.
Fun is underrated when it comes to exercise but anyone who does great at working out and losing weight finds ways to make their time of exercise fun. And that means you probably will be exercising with someone. While men can run alone and be fine with that, women as a rule as social animals and we do much better if we work out with people we like or belong to a woman’s only gym. And if we combine the strong socialization we need and enjoy with a program that has a lot of variety in it in terms of types of exercises, we fight off boredom and are more likely to stick with it.
To get the kind of variety that helps defeat the boredom of working out, you can mix in a lot of different kinds of exercise including tennis, swimming, walking and even volleyball, weight training or time on the treadmill or other cardio machines. This varied approach to woman’s health is just the thing for keeping you active and interested in what you are doing and eventually looking in the mirror at a trimmer and sexier gal which is your goal.
By making the investment of some planning and thinking about how to put together an exercise program that woks for you, you will see your weight come down, your stamina go up and your overall health and quality of life improve. Before long exercise won’t just be a program but a way a life you cannot imagine going without and you will be a healthy and happy girl in every aspect of life. And that is worth the effort of getting your program working today for a better tomorrow.
