Unless you live off the grid in a remote area (and if so, you’re probably not reading this anyway), you no doubt hear a lot about the need to reduce our carbon footprint and to live a greener life. It’s important and almost everyone will acknowledge this, but it can feel like you’re being lectured at times.
Happily, there are some simple steps you can take towards living a greener life. In most cities, there is curbside recycling; so all you need to do is to separate your recyclables and place them out on the curb along with your trash for pickup ? the pickup service takes care of the rest, all you have to do is separate your recyclables and take them to the curb.
Try to drive less. By combining your errands, you not only save fuel and reduce the traffic on the roads; you are giving yourself less stress from dealing with traffic jams and other drivers. Carpool or use public transit when you can. If you choose to ride a bike or walk for some of your errands, you also get needed exercise. This will help keep your heart healthy and keep you limber and toned.

Quick fix diets, are these the answer to our prayers or the diets that nightmares were created with. I believe they are the latter. You will loose weight if you only drink lemonade (the Beyonce diet) however this is not maintanable and will only make you feel rather ill, dizzy and tired. Lets face it if we were meant to live on lemonade or cabbage why have we got teeth.
Quick fix diets and our metabolic rate do not go hand in hand. As human beings we were created with survival in mind and if you suddenly decide to follow “Beyonces lemonade diet” your body will think “ah, starvation imminent lets preserve all the fat stores”. Then after, maybe, a week drinking only lemonade etc you go on a major food fest your body will need even less calories to keep going and you will gain more weight than when you started.
A point to remember before embarking on these diets is that it will be mainly water you are losing, not fat. If you are prone to bloating, I sure am, then this is what you will loose first. You may think you have lost some weight but once you eat other foods this will soon return. So disheartening.
