Let’s face it, getting older means your skin aging even wrinkling and sagging. When those first lines and wrinkles appear, it is time to start buying products on the market that tells us they can get rid of the fine lines and wrinkles. The science of aging is that the damage is done long before the lines and wrinkles appear and products used topically would only reduce the appearance, without actually making them go away. Unless done surgically.

Skin aging actually starts in the early years when, as kids, we tend to be over-exposed to the sun during long hot summers. Climates of dry, cold winters don’t help much either, all of these external elements tend to cause oxidants that attack the skin cells. Skin cells hold delicate balances of vitamins and need hydration to keep them appearing plump. Once the cells are damaged, they start to shrivel and dry and no longer reproduce cell growth as fast. This usually leads to the turnover of cells slowing to a point where the outer layer of skin is made up of older cells. These older cells look dull and facial muscle contractions then start forming wrinkles in the form of smile lines, frown lines, brow lines, crow’s feet and general sagging.

Studies have shown that people who are addicted to alcohol are also highly likely to smoke cigarettes. A report in the June 2008 issue of the Harvard Mental Health Letter showed that experts tended to believe that it’s imperative to counsel alcohol-dependent individuals to quit smoking as well as drinking not only to improve their health, but also to increase their chances of staying sober.

It is a widespread fear that attempting to quit smoking and drinking simultaneously will undermine treatment for alcohol dependence.

You should be aware, however, that most studies have shown that attempts to quit smoking have either no impact on sustaining abstinence or actually increases the success of alcohol treatment.

Currently there is no smoking cessation strategy exclusively for alcohol-dependent adults. For now, the wisest choice is to follow the federal guidelines for treating tobacco addiction, which advocates a combination of counseling and medication.

A major and still unresolved question is whether it’s better to give up smoking and drinking together, or whether it’s better to tackle one addiction at a time.

If you have a yeast infection the common symptoms will be an uncomfortable burning, itching or redness in the area of the infection. Many people rely on a prescription from the doctor the solve the physical problems. However, there are alternatives found in the home that can give some instant relief from the most annoying symptoms.

Yogurt can be applied to provide quick relief for the symptoms of yeast infections. Applying plain yogurt containing live cultures to the affected areas will serve to cool and soothe. Why does yogurt work? It contains friendly bacteria that can help bring the number of yeast microorganisms under control. Be sure that plain yogurt is used, not yogurt that contains sweeteners, fruits or flavorings. Also, do not heat the yogurt. Leave it on the infected area for at least half an hour before rinsing it off.
